The PAPREN Coordinating Center is excited to announce availability of eleven briefs as part of the Expert Consensus for Local Implementation of Physical Activity Policy, Systems and Environment Project (ECLIPPSE) project. We just published an open access article about ECLIPPSE development in the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice and presented at State of the Science back in February. We released these eleven companion briefs – an overview brief plus one on each strategy – to coordinate with article publication as well as a presentation on ECLIPPSE at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting this week.
Why ECLIPPSE?
Communities have struggled to implement recommended built environment changes that support active transportation and leisure-time physical activity. As described in our February, 2025 State of the Science presentation, the Coordinating Center led a process to develop a compilation of promising strategies for implementation of built environment policy, systems and environmental change recommendations.
Our Process
To accomplish this, we recruited twenty-three professionals with expertise in implementation of built environment changes, many affiliated with PAPREN, to serve as an Expert Panel. This group took part in a modified Delphi process of three web-based survey rounds in 2024-2025 to inform the ECLIPPSE strategies. We deeply appreciate the contributions of this talented Expert Panel.
